Awakening Summer 2007

We are gearing up for a great summer at ReConstruct! We have over 1300 participants representing more than 50 churches from different states working on 120 projects over an 8-week period in June and July. These participants will assist Nashville-area low-income homeowners with minor repairs including reroofing or repainting their homes.

Click on the dates below to see who’s coming to ReConstruct 2007.

June 10-16 July 8-14
June 17-23 July 15-21
June 24-30 July 22-28

Our staff is getting everything together — food, lodging, worship and worksite — so youth ministers can cultivate relationships with their students. We love to see the change in these students’ lives as they experience the joy of serving those in need. The evening worship will be an encounter, AWAKENING all participants to God’s calling through worship. We are excited about the energy our worship leaders will bring to the worship experience. Sponsor Summer Project Lunches

Each summer ReConstruct coordinates with churches, small groups, civic organizations, children’s groups and businesses to provide lunches for the groups that are serving. This offers a great ministry opportunity right in their own backyard. We request that the groups provide lunches for one work site for the entire week (Monday – Friday). There are several ways for groups to get involved:

  • ask a local restaurant prepare or donate meals
  • have volunteers from your group prepare the lunches (we will provide you with several ideas)
  • donate money for lunches to be purchased

Work crews range from 10-20 volunteers per work site. Please contact Cheryl Jenks at lunches@reconstruct.org for more information.

This is a great opportunity for you to encourage the ReConstruct volunteer crew and to show the homeowner that the community cares.

Project 180 connects

You can be involved in our projects this summer by checking out our upgraded Project 180 page. Project 180 exists to provide opportunities for everyone involved with ReConstruct to connect and serve. This website allows parents, friends and churches to connect with the church groups while they are participating in a ReConstruct week. Photos will be posted throughout the week and you can send email messages to participants. Click here to see the updated 180 page.

Golf Challenge was a great success!

ReConstruct house On Monday, April 23, 2007 over 30 local golfers raised close to $35,000 in our first annual ReConstruct Golf Challenge, at the Old Natchez Country Club in Franklin TN. "We were very pleased with the outcome for both the golfers and the funds raised for the first year of this type of event." said ReConstruct President, Paul Morris. A golf challenge differs from a pay-to-play golf tournament because the players don't pay a fee to play in the tournament. Instead participants are encouraged to secure corporate sponsors at different giving levels. (more)
