Revenue
ReConstruct receives revenue from three primary sources: contributions, participant fees, and government fees. For 2007, we had a 9% increase in revenue from contributions and a 46% increase in revenue from participant fees. The increase in contributions is a result of our first annual ReConstruct Golf Challenge. We anticipate our participant fee revenue to maintain its momentum in 2008 as we are increasing the number of our project weeks from six to eleven. Government fees remain consistent from 2005 through this year. ReConstruct will continue to build this diverse revenue base of contributions, participant fees and government fees for the future.
Contributors
On April 22, 2007, ReConstruct held its first annual ReConstruct Golf Challenge. The result of this special event was a significant increase in the number of corporate and individual donors who sponsored the golfers. The second annual ReConstruct Golf Challenge is scheduled for April 21, 2008. We anticipate the number of corporate and individual donors to increase as this special event grows. Expenses
We strive to spend a large percentage of our revenue on our program activities. The following chart illustrates that our total fundraising and administrative costs are approximately 13% of our total expenses. We have consistently spent a large percentage of our budget on program services for low-income homeowners.
Total Volunteers and Homes Repaired
In the past, volunteers were secured in three major ways:
- As participants in ReConstruct pre-packaged mission trips
- In conjunction with other denominationally based volunteer organizations
- As members of local churches, civic or school groups
In 2007, the number of homes repaired increased by 14%, and even though the number of volunteers was slightly down, the number of hours contributed increased. Early registration of church groups for 2008 is stronger than at any time in the past. We continue to recruit volunteers nationally through direct mail, trade shows and electronic mailings.
ReConstruct was founded in 1998 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to involve churches, families and other organizations in mission work. Recognizing the home repair needs of low-income homeowners, ReConstruct has focused on improving their living conditions by using volunteers to perform needed repairs. The table below is a summary of results for the last six years.
